Air Conditioning
- Before turning on the air conditioner think about the area you want to cool and close off the area as best as possible to trap the cool air. Close curtains and blinds to reduce heat from the glass windows.
- Ensure you read the setting instructions and set the unit to the best efficiency settings from the beginning.
- Positioning your air conditioner relevant to where the sun shines onto your house always ensuring that the compressor is also out of the sun and not enclosed.
- For cooling situations where you can increase the room temperature by 1°C, you could save up to 10 per cent of operating costs. Manufacturers recommend thermostat temperature settings of 24°C in summer and 20°C in winter.
